Friday’s gig at the Thekla went well... we enjoyed ourselves anyway! Not many people there so early on but still a good turnout compared to our previous Thekla gig. Most of those who were there were transfixed by the video playing of a girl licking a shower wall and dripping honey on her feet. That was great, and it fitted nicely with out stuff, thank you Lucy, whoever you are!
Leafcutter John's set was good. Fascinating to watch. He started of simply by hitting a triangle fed through a massive delay, then started hitting some funny homemade looking red plastic squares with sticks, they had some sort of transducers attached. Then he did all sorts of stuff with a laptop and was controlling something with a joystick (class!) so I can’t really tell you what he was doing there. He also picked up his guitar once, scraped the strings a bit, and then put it down again. But it all sounded great, some really nice atmospheres, great broken beats and a nice warm throbbing.
JustinTM (who DJed between all of the sets downstairs) dropped a nice collection of Mu stuff in, lots of the criminal e.p.s etc., and there was some IDM played upstairs just before Leafy, but I can’t remember who was playing that.
Sean: What file format is that?
