Geeky one here:
The new scientist reports on California Institute of Technology's new Fast TCP, which allows 925 megabits per second data transfer over standard internet hardware only capable of 266 megabits per second using standard TCP. Better than the improvements offered by the Internet 2 scheme which has TCP running at 350 megabits per second, and there's no reason why you couldn't combine the two new systems.
