:: Thursday, January 20, 2005 :: Went to see Richard Herring doing a stand up gig, at the Richmond Spring, in Clifton, on Tuesday night. Mark Olver compared the night, fairly shoddily to start and improving up to an average performance by the end. Buying the audience biscuits during the interval helped. Three stand-ups played. The first one was unremarkable and unmemorable. I can't remember his name, as he was neither so good I needed to remember him, nor so bad that I needed to make a mental note to avoid him in future. Second was Russell Brand, who was pretty good, and whose observation that giving money to homeless people can be seen as using a scabby vending machine for karma was the highlight of the set. Very good. Slightly annoying voice.
