Polar Bear - Held on the Tips of Fingers

I mentioned Polar Bear's Mercury Music Prize nomination back in September, and urged people to buy the album based on the involvement of Leafcutter John and Paul Richardson* on the album. Like a hypocrite, I put off buying it myself until it reappeared in Fopp last week. I bought it on Friday lunch time, got back to the office, put on my headphones, and played it three times through straight. It's been played many more times in the since. This is an astounding album. Modern jazz with an electronic twist and instantly accessible, not to mention Sebastian Rochford's brilliant drumming. If you like either jazz or electronic music, I urge you to listen to this as a bridge between the two. If you like both, you can't afford not to have this album. Outstanding.

* Note: I said before that Paul produced it. Having checked the notes he's actually credited with recording. Oops.
