I've met the guy, and read his book. It's a very good read, highly recommended.

I wouldn't however say you've totally missed out by seeing him talk. Once you've read the book, you've pretty much got the whole thing. He's very good at spreading his message, which of course, like a great politician, involves a lot of repeating the message. Everything I've seen him done elsewhere has not expanded much further than the book, other than his response in his column on swine flu: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/apr/29/swine-flu-hype

So get the book, which again, I highly recommend.
