OK, so I'll admit up front here that I have a weird thing about overknee socks. I thick there really, really sexy. (As anyone who's seen any of my festival photos has probably guessed.) I've recently convinced Amanda that she should get some again, as she's not worn any for years, and in the process of shopping for them something unusual happened. The net genuinely surprised me. Now it takes something pretty weird to do that, and this German Buffalo Trainers fetish site is it. If you want to see pictures of girls in Buffalo's stamping on fruit, vegetables, chocolate eggs, fake birds nests, smurfs, printers or tractors, then this is probably the place to go. If you want to read the history of over knee socks in French go here.

My attention has just been brought to the fact that you can now get the online video of MC Honkeys Sonnet no. 3 (Like A Duck)
It's not a great video, but it does have a cool moonwalking duck, and it is MC Honkey.

I never really could work out what Grom saw in Segways. Sure they're idiot proof, but that's not enough for some people.

I had to laugh at this. The Albany N.Y. local government are putting forward "A proposal to tax junk food, video games and television commercials to pay for an obesity prevention program".
Given that it's the sates, that's going to be one hell of a tax ;)

Celebrity fathers and daughters. If this is trying to sell make up, why do they have photos where the daughter look the same as their farther? (Liv and Steven Tyler the obvious exception)

High praise indeed. My critique of The Matrix: Reloaded has been called "the most beautiful thing ever written about the matrix". I'm waiting for the backlash now.

Depends inertly what you want to do. Are you talking more arranging sampled audio or more sequencing MIDI. For MIDI stuff my weapon of choice was always EMagic's Logic but Apple have bought them out and don't really support PC anymore. That leaves you with Cubase really. If you primarily want to cut audio about Cool Edit Pro is what we generally use, it does a bit of MIDI stuff as well but I haven't ever experimented with it, probably should give it a go now I have a hardware synth. Samplitude is also worth a look, does some really nice stuff as far as processing audio is concerned but not as good as Cool Edit when it comes to arranging it. It you want to do stuff live then The Devine Machine is amazing, put hefty on the machine requirements so I cant really run it very well (upgrade due soon though!) If you want something a bit closer to the bone, try Buzz (shareware, can't find a link though, remind me to look again if you want it), fasttracker II (DOS mind) or some other tracker. Try download.com. If you want to create loop based stuff Fruityloops is your best bet. If you want to do both audio and MIDI manipulation then it's either Cubase or Sonar. Sorry that's all just a big list, I'll be more precise if you explain what you need it for.

The Pi Project is interesting:
"The Pi Project is a music compilation that will challenge each artist involved to insert a portion of the code for pi into their music. Each track made by the artists must have the code represented in their song somehow, and the songs must be 3 minutes and 14 seconds in length."
The first album is already complete and should be released soon. A second volume should follow. I think I'll get programming. Now where did I leave Matlab?

I actually went through some of the woofle google links*, and there are a few references to the "woofle" of an engine - all V8s mind.
Why don't V12s woofle?

* never again, there was some site about some white trash called Kimberly, and her rantings about "going to the mall is cool" and how "Joshh is dreeeaaammmy" *shudder*

I was walking down the street the other day and there was a group of people stood on the corner and a kid of about 10 on the otherside of the road shouting "Where's Grandma? Get Grandma!". I noticed he had a skateboard, and I asumed the people were his family, standing there to witness little Jimmys first olly or crab walking or something slightly worth the pulling of your family into the street. But alas no, once Grandma had tottered out, little Jimmy rolled down a slight slope. At this point Grandma pipes up "Very good. You should get Granddad out, he can do kickflips."

Saw Robert Newman at the Indymedia benefit at The Croft last night.
He did a 50 minute set which was a cut down version of the From Caliban To The Taliban material he's touring with, see blog entry from Monday, February 10, 2003. This show seemed much funnier in retrospect than the previous show, as it was basically just all the best bits compressed to less than half the time. I spoke to the man himself briefly as I was leaving, he apologised for reusing so much material but there was no need, I think the show was better for it.
A two hour long double CD is available of the full FC2T set for a bargain 10 quid, buy it.
Other stuff:
New record for youngest drink driver
Bristol City Council still in the shit

Isn't "woofle" what they use to make walls out of, as in "woofle and dawbe" :) . Anyway, you're the acoustics engineer is it not in any manuals or text books?
A quick google brings up some odd stuff.

I got the Bristol Observer shit rag through the door on Friday, had a glace through it for the weekly confirmation that we can't afford to buy a house unless we want to share a skip with two dealers and a pimp, and stumbled upon an article about a retired policeman's love of fast cars. I didn't bother reading it, but the big quote used to draw your attention was, "What a lovely noise - there's nothing to beat the growl and woofle of a big V8 under your control, is there?" What the hell is "Woofle"?

P.S. I bought a Chisel Knife on Saturday.
