I watched Scratch yesterday, after advising people should watch it when it was on TV on Wednesday. It is a fascinating insight into the evolution of “Turntableism” and Hip-Hop in general. I think the most amusing part must have been how Mix Master Mike seems convinced he talks to aliens through scratching and he once saw a flaying saucer land outside his house when he was practicing, and this belief seems to rub off on a few of the other people he works with (Qbert talks about Jupiter a lot).
DJ Shadow giving the tour of the basement of the shop he goes digging in (the unpstairs is the one on the front cover of Endtroducing) is riveting. You can hardly believe there is so much vinyl in one place. He talks about how humbling it is to think that all of the people who’s records are stacked up there collecting dust once believed they were the best at what they did, and that as someone who made records out of this stuff, then one day you’ll be in their too, you have to respect that. He then reminisces about the record he found a petrified bat under…
Anyone who has any interest in this type of music really must watch this, your missing out if you don’t. It is available on DVD but appears to be Region 1 only.
Edit: Forgot to mention that Cut Chemist looks and sounds like Willy Wonka, another great bonus. (22.09.03)

Well Hello there children,
Yes it's one of those rare occasions where spokesy makes a posting, even rarer still it's actually related to Gusset!
I know by now you have all pencilled the 20th of November 2003 into your filofaxes as the eighth coming of Gusset and so here's a sneak peak at the flyer/poster for all you little bloggers.

Have a good one people and remember,
"A gusset is for life, not just for skidmarks"

Our work canteen had a traditional London themed day yesterday (without Eels! What were they thinking!?) with a main course of Roast Beef and boiled to death vegetables, and a desert of Lockshen Pudding with Stewed Prunes. I’d never heard of Lockshen Pudding so decided to look it up. It seems to be a traditional Jewish recipe made from noodles and cheese (not the first ingredients that spring to mind for a desert). If you’re as intrigued as I was have a look at the recipe. The site also contains the secrete of Chicken Soup, and load of other suggestions. Not to mention Jews Reunited... I wonder if Optimus Prime has registered?

Crisp Review II The Walkers: Great British Takeaway:* Chicken Tikka Masala crisps are much better than the others in the range. They don’t taste like a nasty concoction of regular favours ground together but more like something from the Sensations range. They do taste remarkably like Tikka (not sure about the Chicken or the Masala bit) and even have ground herby bits, well, green flecks anyway. Recommended if you can buy them separately but not worth it for the multipack of range. Now, I’ve heard tell of Vanilla flavour Monster Munch, I’ll see if I can find some of those...
*Look, two colons in the name of a crisp flavour, is that a first? I know Star Wars: Episode 1: The Phantom Box-office was the first ever film title with two colons in it but have you noticed the worrying trend to do this now? e.g. Lara Croft: Womb Raider: The Cradle of Filth.
Keep trying, Dave. Our Work:
This cracks me up, I'm so glad Danny B pointed it out.

16th September:
Mexican Independence Day. The anniversary of the introduction of Play-Doh. The anniversary of Marc Bolan’s death (Mini crash). The world’s oldest person, Kamato Hongo from Japan's southern island of Kyushu, is 116 today. And the birthdays of Peter Falk, B B King, Lauren Bacall and me!
There are free Jaffa Cakes available in the office but I don’t think anyone in work reads this, so if any are left over at the end of the day they will be posted to whoever emails and asks for them. First come, first served.

Crisp Review I’ve just tried the Sweet & Sour flavour crisps from Walkers new Great Bristish Takeaways range, and they’re just as disappointing as the Baked Bean flavour used to raise money for Comic Relief earlier this year. In fact, they taste almost exactly the same, far too heavy on the tomato sauce flavour to be even identifiable as sweet and sour (I tested this on a work college who guessed Tomato Sauce flavour without any prompting). They aren't, however, as the minging Spare Rib flavour I tried last week, which were like some sort of bastardised beef and prawn cocktail in a road accident sort of flavour. Chicken Tikka Masala review coming soon...
