At-Bristol has just installed a new piece of sculpture. It is made out of supermarket trolleys and forms a model of a section of a DNA. What a great use for old supermarket trolleys you might think? Well, no. They look like new ones to me. Did the artist really sit down and think, "I'm going to make a model of some DNA, what shall I make it out of? Of course, trolleys! How has no-one thought of it before? It's so obvious!"
Will post a photo if I can find one.

"The goatee: does anything say "my useless arts degree makes me superior to all you geek engineers" more succinctly?"
Um, I beg to differ, I'm not sure I know any geeks who don't have goatees, and as a be-goateed science graduate myself I take exception to this. Poorly thought out example and lazy use of stereotypes Ms. Lillington.

The Friends of Gusset page has just been updated to include most of the people we have gigged with in the last 18 months and generally not look really, really shit. There are still quite a few people to add as well as people we know who we haven't gigged with and our friends in cyberspace (most of whom are already linked to over there look ----> ) but its a start at least.

The Hutton Report is out. You can read the BBC story here, the Guardian story here, the Guardian's special Hutton blog, the official site here and the report is here. Or ignore all of it if you don't care.

OK you got me Dan!
That is me... I was hoping to make it more interesting before I advertised it though, and yes it is she... Like the design though... been hard work.... at work! As for Ani D, I'm gonna go buy it later so I can review it properly, although you can listen to the whole thing on her website...

Some nice ASCII art movies at plugincinema, along with loads of other interesting short films. (By the way, the Break It Down breakcore music copyright film didn't show after all at the Indymedia screening on Monday but it will probably be posted on plugincinema soon, keep an eye on it)

Hutton Inquiry findings leaked
Tories call for another inquiry!
(Some people have blamed The Sun for this. It was leaked TO them, not BY them. Don't you think the person that gave it to them should be to blame and not the paper? They are a newspaper after all, what do you think they are going to do with it? Wedge a door open? Use it to stop a desk wobbling? Of course they’re going to f*cking publish it!)

New gig review posted. Toxic Dancehall III: The Bug, Shitmat, Anarchic Hardrive, Bin Ray & The Black Swan, Easton, Bristol, 24.01.04

Ricky Gervais has become the first UK actor to win a TV comedy acting award at the Globes and The Office became the first UK sitcom to win the best comedy prize. One of the best aceptence speeches I've heard since Michael Moore's "Shame on You, Mr. Bush" speech.
"I'm not from these parts... I'm from a little place called England. We used to run the world before you" (If anyone can find a complete transcript that would be great)

Gates reveals M$ anti-spam tactics (not being the world third largest spammer would help) at the World Economic Forum in Davos (only an R missing).
"The ultimate solution would be to make senders of e-mail pay a fee if their mail was rejected as spam. "Payment at risk", the electronic equivalent of a stamp, would not deter genuine e-mailers who would be confident their mail would be accepted"
Unless we needed to top up the shareholders dividend and oops, we've just charged for every email sent anywhere in the world today, never mind, won't happen again, promise.

Rob Brydon, of Marion and Geoff fame, returns to our TV screens this week to provide spoof directors voiceovers for TV classics like 'I, Claudius' and 'Upstairs, Downstairs'. 'The Director's Commentary' in on ITV (help! proll tele!) on Wednesday at 11pm.
