The Register provides a more balanced and less scaremongering assessment of this mornings passport crack revelations in The Guardian.

It's worth reading to the bottom of the first link as after complaining about the Guardian's reaction it starts getting down to the bare bone problems of why bio-metric ID is of questionable benefit and what we should really be arguing about.

The study in our house, known to Spokesy as "Popey's Play Room" due to being taken up in the most part by my studio kit, has been on Mrs P's hit list since we moved in. This week we finally got round to shifting everything out of it so she could paint it (apricot, think magnolia in orange rather than yellow) and put some carpet tiles down. Two new book cases have also been added. The whole room now looks and feels a lot larger, mainly thanks to getting rid of the three different hideously patterned carpets fragments than graced the floor. I am warned to be selective in what equipment I need in use all the time as the previous incarnation was likened by Amanda to "a cross between a lost property room and Rob's room at the uni." (Rob being Spokesy's brother who is a sys.admin). The day after she uttered these words I found myself in a workshop of an audio equipment hire company and felt compelled to record how much worse it could be! Observe.
