Korg Nano

Korg are unleashing a new range of ultra-cheap ultra-small MIDI controllers.

MusicThing notes:

'They are incredibly small, light and flimsy. Fortunately, they're also absurdly cheap. Even at just £49, the NanoKey is certainly the lamest - obviously built using clicky, rattly laptop keyboard technology. From the way it feels, it seems unlikely to have much velocity sensivity. You might be better off with something like this £50 Miditech Control 25, unless you're really stuck for space. At £59, the NanoPad is worth considering. The pads are a reasonable size, and the touchpad (from the PadKontrol) will be fun. The £59 NanoKontrol looks great, with a good number of knobs, buttons and sliders, useful (if rubbery) transport controls. It's hard to overstate how cheap and plasticky these things are. The faders are tiny and toy-like, the cases would need to be taped down to stop them moving across the table.'

eWok
Thinking about the plethora of USB gadgets available these days (usually lazily named by adding an ‘i’ or an ‘e’ in front of its everyday name) a clever pun suddenly struck me. Has anybody ever made an eWok? A quick google found this wok based wifi antenna. Close, but not close enough.

Haute Torture
"the iTaser ... combines a Taser stun gun, used by 12,000 law enforcement and security forces, including the Metropolitan police, with an MP3 player and earphones."
wtf?

"The British public are banned from using Tasers" but that didn't stop one of my school teachers getting zapped outside the school gates with one.

Stupid, stupid idea.

Mouse Trap 2007
"The Rentokil RADAR is the latest in mouse catching technology. The RADAR works in the following sequence:
  • Mouse is lured into the mousetrap via smell of food
  • Micky is then detected by infrared sensors which closes the traps door
  • Cloud of carbon dioxide released, Mickey is asphyxiated in 45 seconds
  • Owner receives text message with the good news

I don't think there is ever a truly humane way of killing mice but the text message at the end was a nice touch."
